A Good Run

I can’t believe it took 4 1/2 years, but I finally experienced abandoning (a full) ship at the supermarket today. We had a good run kids. We had a good run. Big thanks to Olivia and a swim diaper that was just no match for her pee pee.

Camryn: “Mommy, something is leaking in this shopping cart.”

Me: “Yes, it’s your sister. Girls, we’re outta here.”

Cam spent some time playing pirates with her sister and cousin, Matthew today. One child wore the pirate hat, one wore the plastic pirate hook on their hand and all had foam swords.

It was then time to eat dinner, but after dinner Cam had the idea to play pirates again. She then yelled out at the table…”Hey, let’s play pirates again. I’ll be the hooker!”

School Time Fun

Mommy: “Livy, what did you do at school today?” Livy: “Had fun with friends.” Can’t beat that.

Old Yeller

I am still laughing over Cam telling her “Good job Mommy, you didn’t yell at me today!” Am I that much of a yeller?

The Power of Scooby

I can’t believe how much power Scooby Doo attending or not attending Cam’s birthday party has over her behavior. Also can’t believe how freakin funny it is to see her face and hear her pleading to be good when Daddy pretends to call Scooby to tell him not to come to the party. Tears. Tears, I tell you…running down the face I laugh so hard.

Birthday Wishes

Scene: Family birthday party for Camryn—> Mommy: “Camryn, what did you wish for as you blew out your birthday candles?” “Camryn: “I wished for us all to be friends.” Mommy tears up over how freaking cute her daughter is.

Missing Mommy

I asked Olivia what she did in the gym today while at school and was told “I cried. I miss you, Mommy.” Could I love this kid anymore? Answer: no.

Scooby, NOT Snoopy

I hope Camryn didn’t make the Santa who visited her school sad today when he gave her a Snoopy stuffed animal and she told him she was sorry but she didn’t want his Snoopy toy and that she only asked for SCOOBY toys for Christmas this year.

Movie Time

I enjoyed the new Alvin and the Chipmunks movie, but enjoyed Camryn dancing in the aisles of the theater singing “All the single ladies…” even more.

Best Friends

My heart melted today when Camryn and Olivia announced they are best friends. Not so much when they were fighting about an hour later over the Littlest Pet Shop toys, but still.

I need to think of a surefire way to get Camryn to stop using the word “peckerface”.

Twinkle Twinkle Little Duet

I think there is nothing better than hearing Liv and her Daddy singing a duet of “Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star” through the baby monitor. I love my little cute family. ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥

What’s that Sound?

I woke up to a little girl asking me “Mommy, what’s that sound?” as the wind blew outside the window. Success.

Eyes On Me

I am loving that Camryn is trying to ger her sister’s attention by telling her, “Eyes on me!” A teacher in the making for sure.

Anti Girly Girl

I told Camryn there was a princess party this weekend and she needs to dress like a princess. Her reply, “Um, how about I don’t go dress like a princess and dress up like Scooby instead. I don’t like princesses.” I gave birth to Lindsay 2.0…the anti girly-girl.

Can’t make this shit up. Actual conversation between Camryn and her Daddy earlier today—-> —- CAMRYN:”Daddy, who yells at me louder, you or Mommy? I will give you a hint. This person doesn’t have a moustache.” —- STEVE: “Is it Mommy?” —- CAMRYN: “Good job, Daddy! You got it right.”

I Want To Get Out

I am listening to Liv belting out her original tune, “I want to get out” while in her crib. Naptime has now become auditions for the next American Idol round here. For those who’d like to sing along, it goes a lil someting like this… “I want to get out. I want to get out. Hi ho the derry O, I waaaaant to get ouuuuuuuuu…uuuuut!” (Once again, can’t make it up folks. This is my life).

Snow Day

I just completed operation ‘take both kids and dogs out in the snow to play’ and is so impressed that they played longer than it took to dress them in the snow gear. There’s a first for everything.

Love and a T Shirt

I feel so special when I comes downstairs after getting dressed in an old t-shirt that Camryn has seen a million times, yet she greets me with an emphatic, “Mommy, I LOVE your shirt!”

Crazy All Around

I just told Camryn she is driving me crazy today. Her reply, “And Livy is driving me crazy today.” At least we are all on the same page.

Dance School Dropout

I’m pleasantly surprised that even though Cam bailed on dance lessons, we are still getting our money’s worth with the tap shoes. Tappity, tap, tap…..I may just carpet the whole house soon.

Pet Trade

I’m all about Cam’s plan to “return Stewey and Roxie for a cat that looks like Mommy’s from when she was a little girl.” Don’t let the door hit you in the furry ass poochies.

Rent a Pet

I wish there was a rent-a-pet service. That way, Cam could get over her obsession of “needing a cat” and then the lil’ furball goes back. A win-win. Cam gets her cat and the cat gets some loving and cuddles

I always said I wouldn’t be one of those moms who yell at their kids…and then they turned 2 and 4…and that theory went out the window with my sanity.

Converation with Camryn upon pickup at school today and yet another reason why I freaking love this kid: Cam: Mom, I know the vowels. They are A, E, I , O and U.” Mama: “That’s awesome, Cam. Good job!” Cam: “THAT’S what I’m talking about, Mom!”

Hall Monitor in Training

I always shudder with fear when I hears Camryn bellowing “Mommy, Livy’s NOT doing the right thing” from another level in the house, but am thankful for her watchful eye. She will be the #1 candidate for hall monitor in a few years.

Soundtrack to Bedtime

I wasn’t aware Liv knew the words to so many different songs….until she sang for a full hour while in her crib before bedtime tonight. Her musical tastes range from “The Hokey Pokey” to Alvin and the Chipmunk’s version of “Hot and Cold” by Katy Perry. A rather eclectic lady.

I am still trying to digest the fact that with a totally straight face, Camryn asked her “when are we going to the Bahamas?” Most four year olds ask for the circus, Chuck E. Cheese, the movies, a trip to the ice cream shop. But, no, not Camryn.

Pizza Playdating

I am pizza playdating. Ya know, where the kids trash the house and have fun while the moms gorge themselves on pizza with a side of salad to balance out the calories. 😛

Park Trip

Got the park bag packed…Bubbles. Check. Chalk. Check. Balls. Check. Sand toys. Check. Snacks. Check. My sanity. Not so much.

I’m having great difficulty handling her 2 year old diva…”I want a dress, now I want pants, now I want a witch costume, now I want to be Tinkerbell, I don’t like these shoes, I need a PINK headband,”…peppered with heavy doses of “I need juices and I need yogurt sticks.”

Early Morning Single Lady

I find Olivia dancing around the kitchen singing “All the Single Ladies” quite a pick me up in the early morning.

Love Unprompted

I know there’s not much that can top your kids asking one another for a hug and telling eachother “I love you” without prompting.

Potty Mouth

I am just so thrilled that Camryn has entered the phase of life when talking about poop, burping and farting are all worthy of rolling on the floor and laughing hysterically. Wondering when it will pass, but judging by her Dad’s sense of humor, probably never.

Diaper Change

I kinda wished Cam would’ve said yes when Liv asked her to change her diaper.

Gonna Be Alright

I am taking Camryn’s word for it when she sings, “Don’t worry, about a thing, because every little thing is gonna be alright.”

My heart grew a little today when Olivia told me that Cam is her best friend. Hope she always feels that way. ♥ ♥

Dinner Out Sans the Meltdown

Our family hit a milestone tonight. Dinner out, including kids, and not one freak out. Who’s better than us?

Gourmet Eating

Yogurts sticks and cheese puffs. The dinner of champions…and Olivia. Now you know where NOT to send the Mommy of the year award.

They can’t hear you

I thought watching old movies of Cam and Liv was fun. Watching Olivia yell hello and wave to each family member in the movies was even more fun.

Mommy McMommy

I am thinking my, oh my, how times have changed…from the mosh pit of a NIN concert to singing along with Dora the Explorer Live on Stage. Who woulda thunk it…dirtbag turns Mommy McMommy. The magical powers of children.

Mealtime Drama

I am really over the kiddie mealtime drama, is considering duct taping them to the kitchen chairs for breakfast, lunch and dinner and hiring someone to stand over them and repeatedly say, “eat your food.”

Bad Day

I’m so thankful for Camryn’s comic relief. After my yelling at Liv to get back into the house as she was escaping, Camryn said, “Wow, Liv. You are having a bad day today” and proceeded to serenade her with Alvin the chipmunk’s version of “Bad Day” by Daniel Powter. Smiles all around on the Trant ladies. Thanks Cam.

I am amused and frightened by how sneaky Liv is at such a young age. Here’s an example of the little sneakster at work…Steve told her to stop putting her foot on the dog. She froze, looked at him, thought for a second or two and said, “ok, turn around now, Daddy” as she began to lift her foot once again. I can’t.

Mother’s Day Faves

According to a survey Camryn took at school, my favorite TV show is Scooby Doo, her favorite color in pink, she’s 29 years old, she cooks cookies and cupcakes, she loves to play video games and toys with Camryn, loves when Camryn makes silly faces, is always hugging and kissing Camryn, doesn’t like when Camryn does rude things to Olivia, is funny when she gives Camryn tickles and best of all…her daughter loves her to the moon and back.

I just just learned that a male cricket drops his wings in order make music for the female cricket. The female cricket then says “Hey, what is that beautiful music?” and then they live happily ever after. My four year old is the best teacher I ever had. Girl can break it down. Thanks Cam.
